St. Mary’s Catholic Primary School has served St Mary’s Parish in Chorley for over one hundred and fifty years. In 1981 the school moved from its old buildings on Devonshire Road to the new site it now occupies. The school now enjoys a modern building situated in its own landscaped grounds with adjacent playing fields.
We have eight classrooms, as well as several ancillary teaching areas, a Special Educational Needs room, a sensory room, a hall, a well stocked fiction & non-fiction library, a networked computer suite for whole class teaching and mini-suites in all year group classrooms.
Our academic year groups are orgainised within three primary stages : Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Nursery & Reception Class, Key Stage 1 (KS1) - Years 1 & 2 and Key Stage 2 (KS2) - Years 3,4,5 & 6.
We have a dedicated and enthusiastic school staff, committed to enhancing the academic, creative and sporting gifts of each child attending our school. We recognise that every child is an individual with different abilities, which we seek to identify, nurture and build upon. We believe that the best environment to do this in is a happy one.
St. Mary's is a happy school. Our personal relationships are firmly based on Christian principles and all are encouraged to treat others with respect as they would wish to be treated themselves. Our school is an integral part of the the life of St. Mary's parish, supporting and promoting Catholic ideals and the example of Christ to be followed in all aspects of daily life.
Our academic standards are high and we aim to develop an enquiring approach to life and promote a love of learning.
