I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who took part in the first of what I hope will become a regular feature of our health week: the Joshua Bates Memorial Superhero Run. The weather conditions were perfect as runners gathered for the warm-up to the challenge of running nine laps of the field. There were superheroes of every description both young and old: Supergirls, Spidermen, Catwomen, TeaTowel men and many more besides.
It was great to see the St Mary’s community come together for this fun event in the sunshine on Tuesday morning. I would like to thank you all for your wonderful generosity. The event raised over £330 for the charity Meningitis Now, who do such excellent work in supporting families affected by the dreadful disease of meningitis. And a special thank you must go to Ethan Bates for coming up with the idea in the first place!
